This page exists because the site can collect an email address. It says who is collecting it, what happens to it, and how to make it stop.

Astral Polity, a video game in development. This site is its only public page.

There is no data protection officer. The project is one person and does not meet the threshold that would require one.

What is collected, and what is not

One thing: an email address, and only if you type it in yourself.

What the sign-up stores, once you use it: your address; the time you asked, confirmed and (if ever) unsubscribed; the wording you agreed to; which page you came from; a shortened browser string; and your IP address as a one-way hash — the raw address is never written down. It is kept in a plain file on this site’s own server in Switzerland, not in a third-party system, and the unsubscribe link in every mail removes you in one click. The contact form stores nothing at all: it forwards your message to our mailbox and keeps no copy on the server.

Why, and on what legal basis

If you subscribe, the address is used to send development updates about this game and nothing else. The basis is consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); FADP Art. 6). You give it by asking to join and you withdraw it whenever you like, without giving a reason: once the newsletter runs, that is one click in every email; until then, a line to contact@astralpolity.com removes you the same day.

The address is never sold, rented, shared for anyone else's marketing, or used to build a profile. There is no automated decision-making and no advertising of any kind.

Who else sees it

The site itself sends your address nowhere. The sign-up button opens a message in your own mail program addressed to list@astralpolity.com; nothing leaves your machine unless you press send in that program.

Mail you do send is received and stored by hosttech AG (Switzerland), which hosts this site and its mailboxes as a processor on documented instructions.

When the development log opens as a proper mailing list, it will be run by MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania, European Union), acting as a processor, with the list stored in the EU. That service sends the confirmation and unsubscribe links. This page will name any change of provider, and the safeguard for any transfer outside Switzerland or the EEA, before a single newsletter is sent.

This site links out to Discord, YouTube and Patreon. Those links load nothing here and tell them nothing about your visit — but once you follow one, that service's own terms and privacy notice apply.

How long it is kept

A message you send to list@astralpolity.com stays in that mailbox until the list opens or you ask for it to be deleted. After that: until you unsubscribe, or until the list is shut down, whichever is first. If the project ends, the list is deleted rather than transferred. Unsubscribing removes the address; a suppression record may be kept solely to ensure you are not re-added.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or withdrawal of consent, and none of it costs anything or requires a reason. Write to contact@astralpolity.com and you get an answer within 30 days. If the answer is unsatisfactory you may complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or to your own national supervisory authority if you are in the EU/EEA.

Children

This site is not directed at children and the list is not knowingly used to collect addresses from them.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, the change is announced in the development log rather than made quietly. The date below is the last revision.
